Description
As part of a research project funded by the DAAD, I studied intercultural (i.e., from my Russian perspective) and intracultural (i.e. from the perspective of the subjects themselves) peculiarities between East and West Berliners from 2002 to 2004.
The data set contains transcripts of interviews with residents in two of the city’s districts – one western and one eastern. I have taken two population groups into account: On the one hand, young people, namely high school and university students (up to about 25 years old), and on the other hand, older people (about 40-50 years old) who had previously lived in two other districts/cities/states. In both groups, I included people with migration backgrounds, of which there are many in multicultural Berlin. I interviewed these groups using a structured guide consisting of a maximum of ten questions.
The uploaded files include the project description, the structured guide, the interview transcripts, and an overview of the findings of the empirical study.
